The innovation council at the institute level provides an opportunity to choose their user defined projects after which the college guides them to prepare the required model or prototype. These projects are then sent to various industries. The institute also assists selected projects and helps the prototypes to take them to the market. The institute also helps students in production in case students get a positive response. The institute provides students with land and machinery in their own industry of Shah Alloys. An example of one such project is the eco-friendly car or solar car made by the students of Mechanical Engineering that was marketed by a well-established manufacturing company which had placed an order to produce four such cars.

With globalization and increasing need for international exposure to academia, SAL has forged ties with various universities such as Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, Hochschule Wismer – University of Applied Science Technology & Business Design, Germany and many more for students exchange programs at universities in North Korea and Poland.
